The Provincial Government of Bataan, its 11 municipal governments, the City of Balanga achieved another recognition from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) in passing the Good Financial Housekeeping (GFH) for the year 2023.
The GFH recognition is awarded to LGUs that demonstrate strict adherence to accounting and auditing standards, as well as compliance with relevant rules and regulations, as outlined by the DILG.
To receive the GFH, an LGU must secure either an unqualified or qualified opinion from the Commission on Audit (COA) in its most recent audit. Additionally, it is required to uphold the Full Disclosure Policy (FDP), which entails the transparent dissemination of financial documents in three conspicuous locations and on the FDP portal for all quarters of the preceding years.
Moreover, the GFH is one of the important components of the Seal of Good Local Governance, conducting a comprehensive evaluation of the LGU’s administrative capacity-building initiatives to ensure a holistic assessment of governance practices and financial stewardship.
The collective success of Bataan’s LGUs in obtaining the GFH underscores their commitment to transparency, accountability, and effective financial management, setting a commendable standard for local governance in the country.
